Sažetak
Introduction. Endotracheal intubation is the “golden standard” in airway management, but in out-of hospital conditions the data confirming it is the best method are conflicting. Patients and Methods. A prospective randomized research was conducted in Department of Emergency medicine, County of Slavonski Brod-Posavina.Basic inclusion criteria was confirmed out-of hospital cardiac arrest, emergency medical team arrival within 20min of arrest and precisely filled incident protocol. Results. 133 patients were included in the research. Endotracheal intubation was performed in 47 (35, 3%)and I-gel laryngeal mask was used in 45(33, 8%).Worse outcome is in patients in whom resuscitation was not already in progress (p=0, 026).Furthermore, worse outcome was recorded in patients with non-shockable electrocardiography rhythms(p=0, 012). Conclusion. Endotracheal intubation is often difficult to perform in out-of hospital conditions with an increased number of complications. I-gel laryngeal mask presents a good alternative. No statistically significant difference in outcome was recorded between the two airway management procedures (p=0, 940).
