Sažetak
SAQ training is suggested to enable soccer players to become better at reacting to stimuli, improve acceleration, move effectively in multiple directions and change direction or stop quickly to make a play in a fast, efficient, smooth, and repeatable manner (1). Jullien et al. (2008) stress that 3-week agility training can improve results in straight sprint tests over the 7.32 and 10 meters in soccer players. Also, the SAQ training programme appears to be an effective way of improving some segments of power performance in elite soccer players during in-season period where 8-week training programme improved significantly jumping performance in countermovement (44.04 vs. 44.48 cm) and continuous jumps (41.08 vs. 41.39 cm) performed with legs extended (p≤0.05) (2). It was confirmed that SAQ training method is more efficient for improvement in acceleration and mean running velocity than small sided games (SSG) (1). The aim of this research was to determine the effects of a speed, agility and quickness (SAQ) training program on speed and flexibility in young soccer players.
