Sažetak
Long-term sustainable development of tourism destination is entirely dependent on positive attitudes of the local residents as well as their support to tourism development. Therefore this paper represents a shift from the classic standardised analysis of attitudes while at the same time it emphasises the recently prevailing concept of sustainable development or sustainable tourism. The primary goal of this paper is to identify the residents’ attitudes towards the role of authentic tangible and intangible components of tourism product in sustainable tourism development. In order to identify the existing attitudes, the primary research was carried out involving a sample of 850 respondents in the Dubrovnik-Neretva County. To reach this aim relevant inferential techniques have been applied, namely confirmative factor analysis and Kruskal-Wallis variance analysis test, on the basis of primary data collected on the attitudes of the local residents. The paper indicates the necessity of future and continuous research on the residents' attitudes focusing on the analysis of attitudes on both the positive and negative impacts of tourism with particular emphasis on sustainable development.
