Sažetak
We studied biochemical markers of periodontal disease in unstimulated saliva and performed microbiological analysis of periodontal pocket in 10 patients with adult peirodontitis (AP), 18 patients with rapidly progressive periodontitis (RPP). 14 healthy and 9 edentulous patients were used as controls. In patients with RPP concentration of IL-6 were much higher. In patients with AP C-reactive protein, and alpha2-macroglobulin were lower. Porphiromonas gingivalis, Prevotella intermedia and Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans were isolated from pockets with patient with RPP and AP. These data suggest that inflammatory hyperactivity might play a role in tissue destruction characteristic for RPP.
