Sažetak
The aim of our study was to evaluate and compare rCBF and clinical changes in schizophrenic patients treated with haloperidol after being replaced by risperidone. We did SPECT with Tc99m-ECD twice, while on haloperidol and after ( week treatment with risperidone, in 14 female patients, whose symptoms were assessed using Positive nad Negative Syndrom Scale for Schizophrenia (PANSS). Results showed genrally equivalent benefit with some evidence of risperidone superiority on negative smptoms. The best improvement was achieved in patients with dominant negative symptomatology, in whom SPECT study was normalised after risperidone therapy. The co-occurrence of rCBF changes and neuropsychological improvement may serve as an indicator of the effectveness of therapy.
