Sažetak
Membrane lateral domains have been verified by different experimental approaches, and the theoretical models fit the general ideas of the possible molecular organization. Electron paramagnetic resonance of the spin probe tagged cell membranes, renders valuable inforamtion on membrane in situ in cell suspensions and tissues. It was found that the domains structure is sensible system, which responds primarily via the domain population rearrangment, to the action of the extermnal stress. We tried to identfy the possile role of cell membrane domain structure on the scavenging of radicals, the spin probe, by which the domain structure was determined. The domain structure altrations induced by bilirubin haver been accompanied by the decrease of the reduction rate of the radicals.. In the proposed model, we assumed that the observed decrease of the fluid ordered membrane domain population is directly correlated with the decreased membrane permeability. Such effects have been observed in fibroblasts and neurons. It is our intention to describe some processes of cellular defense, where involvment of membrane domain structure might be supportive.
