Sažetak
Purpose: To evaluate correlation between sex and age of patients and between the type of anomalies evidenced during radiological exams and their clinical expression. Materials and methods: 1017 patients with radiological findings of anomalies of the gut rotation and fixation of all ontogenetic different segments were examined. Anomalies were found in 7.1 % of population in 7-year period (1989-1995). Conventional radiological methods were used routinely. Ultrasonography, computed tomography and angiography were sometimes used. Results: 13% of this type of anomalies of the gut rotation and fixation are expressed by acute symptoms, with a clinical and radiological picture of proximal ileus in the new-born period and in the first months of life with a greater prevalence in male patients (1.2 : 1).Predominant clinical symptoms of anomlies of the gut rotation and fixation are chronic recurrent periumbilical pain, flatulence with occasional vomiting of gastroduodenal content and diarrhea present in 67 % patients. Conclusion: Adequate conventional radiological examination of the gastrointestinal tract is sufficient to demonstrate anomalies of gut rotation and fixation. Small intestinal barium contrast study is the most informative.
