Sažetak
Modern media and advertising propagate an unrealistic ideal body image. The faces of the elderly, lined with wrinkles, were previously viewed with respect. In new era people attempted at masking signs of life, based on the underlying assumption that looking younger boosts self-confidence and improve social connections. The appearance of the skin is related to the perceived health or illness of an individual. Peoples frequently view skin changes as contagious. It is as if the desire to be healthy has been confused with the illusion of looking perfect. Patient, who came to dermatological consultation and begin to ask direct or indirect questions about skin aging, must be listen with unspoken desires, and take the discussion further. By watching patient and listening while she/he speaks, we will see that she/he will very often reveal frustrations, expectations, and refusal to give up trying to look attractive. On the other side, doctor must try to understand what motivates this need to “look good”, this refusal to accept herself as she/he sees herself in the mirror. After the patient identified which unsightly cosmetic features would like to correct it may not necessarily match those that would seem to you to be the most important. In next step, dermatologist has to explain which procedure is able to offer to the patient as a concrete reality. In dermatologists practice many antiaging treatments are possible. In lecture the overviews will be given. Often is necessary to make use of the complementary nature of local cosmetic treatments, which are suitable for the skin type, but also for the patient’s lifestyle, and of medical procedures to obtain maximum effectiveness. Apart from the possible dermatological treatments available, if the patient has high expectations, is difficult and likely to be non-compliant, it is better to refer her to a dermatosurgeon, or cosmetic surgeon. In the years to come, the antiaging medicine can only get more popular. The dermatologists have to keep abreast of the new treatments and products as specialist companies introduce them onto the market. The public will increasingly find very well documented health and beauty information in the media and in particular on the Internet. The proliferation of this information can lead to doubts, and even anxiety in our patients. In addition, we must start preparing ourselves in order to continue to be what we are: physicians of the skin and its appearance.
