Sažetak
The durability of structures may be defined as the time span in which the structure meets serviceability requirements, which can themselves vary in the course of time. The durability of structures is influenced by factors that can be classified into three basic groups. Factors that occur prior to realization of structures: investment activities, preliminary works, design and selection of an optimum alternative based on theoretical and experimental studies on the model of prototype of the structure, selection of materials, technology and construction manegement scheme for the structure. Factors that occur during realization of structures: technology and realization method, quality of materials, construction supervision, testing of structures prior to actual use. Factors that occur after realization of structures: protection measures and procedures, maintaince, influence of enviroment(corrosion of materials), service conditions, change in intensity and frequency of load application, fatigue of materials, monitoring and subsequent in-service testing of structures. In this group of factors that influence durability of structures, the prominent place is taken by the testing of structures which is performed on the model, prototype or on the structure itself prior to or during its use.
