Sažetak
Victims’ reports are the main source of information and the basis for the most of police actions in solving crime. Assuming that, the main goal of thispaperis to explore the theoretical framework and empirical research which explains the origin of victims’ reporting behaviour and to determine the level and reasons of Croatian citizens’ non-cooperation with the police in reporting their victimization.Data about a total of 4500 Croatan citizens over 18 years old were collected through „The National Public Opinon Survey on Citizen Perception of Safety, Security and Police Collaboration with Local Community in the Republic of Croatia.“ Results show that the car thefts and burglary are most often reported to the police, while even two thirdsof victims of frauds and physical assaults didnot notify the police because of three main reasons: police inability in solving cases, solving problems by themselves and unwillingness to wastetime on bureaucracy.
