Sažetak
The Croatian police, as one of the youngest police services in Europe, have been shifting toward democratic community policing over the last two decades. Police integrity and combating police misconduct are important components of this development. Even under war and post-war conditions, there were some research of police corruption, and some improvements in the Croatian criminal and police legislation occurred, all in order to achieve and maintain the highest possible levels of professional police integrity. Authors present specific approach to researching police corruption, initiated to avoid difficulties which are related to the measurement of police corruption, as well as results of such research in Croatia. Results of few waves of such survey in the period between 1995 and 2008 show that the professional culture among the surveyed Croatian police is quite tolerant of police corruption, and that surveyed citizens are aware of that.Future research should address in detail the reasons for such a situation.
