Sažetak
Several autochthonous cherry varieties located in the Ohrid and Prespa region, south western part of Macedonia were studied from the viewpoint of characterization. Most of them have a high risk of extinction since at the present they are markedly minor varieties. The following characteristics were investigated: period of flowering and ripening, morphological characteristics of the leaves, fruit size, fruit weight, total soluble solids and pomological characteristics of the fruits over a two consecutive year’s period. Statistical analyses were carried out in order to detect similarities between cultivars as well as the existence of synonymies. Some of the studied cultivars showed distinctive and interesting agronomical characters from a commercial point of view such as time of ripening, fruit quality and high soluble solids.
