Sažetak
Several recently issued international recommendations introduced new approach to radiation safety. The new phyilosophy could have an impact on the presently used procedures regarding waste disposal in respect to geological consideration, related to site selection. It is related primarily to the deposition of radioactive waste into underground facilities. The geological and radioecological factors must, for that reason, meet certain minimum requirements, before a site can be seriously considered. The presentation deals with introduction of some new criteria and requirements regarding risk assessment, collective view of field activity, which are to be undertaken, related to selection of a Croatian LILRW depository site; futhermore it is discussed how the same approach could also be applied to the process of selecting a site for deposition of non-radioactive hazardous waste into geological environment.
