Sažetak
The system of healthcare and healthcare insurance together make one of the most important segments of society and its functioning as a compact whole. In today's new economy, healthcare systems are facing a variety of challenges: governmental regulations, demands for a more rational, efficient and thorough patient care, improvement of immediate healthcare via using information technology. When implementing the ICT and Internet technologies, it is necessary to start from the current situation of hospital information system and conduct the informatization of healthcare system as a whole. Besides tracking of all the processes entirely and coherently, improving the immediate healthcare and enabling a continuous patient-physician communication, information technology has an ability to improve health through a long-term monitoring, collecting and analysing the symptom, illness and treatment data. Focus of this paper is finding the best solution for a coherent informatization of healthcare institutions, emphasizing the integration of all business processes inside and between institutions, with the purpose of building e- Health system. The elements that will present the importance of integration of business information systems in the creation of e-Health are: basic features of integration of hospital management business processes and business processes of departments and clinics, expected effects of healthcare informatization, basic characteristics of e-Health.
