Sažetak
Simulation helps to understand filling and solidification process, optimization of new dies and casting parameters. Paper was done in cooperation with Lama d.d. company from Dekani, Slovenia. Numerical simulation of die casting process of zinc alloy Zamak 5 was investigated in order to determine the process parameters which assure expected quality of the casting. Hot chamber die casting process was modelled and simulated. Software ESI ProCAST was used as a tool for virtual process simulation. Obtained results of simulation agree with experimental results. Simulation may be used for optimization of hot chamber die casting. It leads to more economical production with better quality of castings.
