Sažetak
This paper presents the possibility to increase the speed of bus and light rail (LRT) in order to make urban public transport more attractive to potential passengers and subsequently attract more of them to the idea of using urban public transport. The measures are classified through physical and operative changes that affect the movement of vehicles as well as on the reduction of time spent on terminals. The paper will explore sensitivity of travelling spead in relation to every element of turnaround speed, as well as planning stop locations and distance between them, taking into account the requirements for coverage of the area by public transport lines. The conclusion part will compare the types of accelerated operations in urban public transport through "skip-stop" driving, zonal driving and express driving in connection with the local driving.
