Sažetak
Selecting optimal solutions for a design or a process is a part of engineering, so after a relatively long monitoring period of the operation, it is possible to make certain improvements. The main reason for this is that every design solution is selected based upon internal and external influences during that time period and the knowledge level in that area but also from related fields. Using a more detailed analysis along with an extensive experience and results from the field, it is possible to improve those optimal solutions of a certain time period through investment maintenance. This paper presents one possible modification in the oil refining process aimed at obtaining quality base distillate for the production of lubricating oils. Through investment maintenance, the gasoline production process is used for the production of basic oil distillate. This is achieved by modifying certain furnace and heat exchanger parameters.
