Sažetak
The integrated hospital information system ‘IBIS Sveti Duh’ is part of the pilot project of hospital institutions computerization, initiated by the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare of the Republic of Croatia. Up to now, the testing phase has encompassed only outpatient care in 13 outpatient clinics, which are still using the software. The functionality of IBIS as a whole offers the recording of medical and administrative patient data, as well as of complete financial and material business processes of the hospital. The medical data tracked by the system are referral and specialist diagnoses, procedures and services, and medical documents. The system also supports the integrated laboratory system functionality, as well as the operation module for operation planning and scheduling. Additionally, we have implemented the functionalities of patient scheduling and waiting lists, both for inpatient admissions and for certain diagnostic procedures. Besides from the central location, the access to the system is possible also from separate remote locations. The SAP Internet Transaction Server functionality enables scheduling outpatient appointments directly from the primary health care, using the Internet. This functionality is intended especially for primary care physicians, whom it enables to access the IBIS system in order to schedule outpatient appointments or diagnostic procedures and to overview their schedules, using only a web browser, i.e. without having the SAP client installed on local computers in their primary health care clinics. Protecting patient data is especially important: only authorized users can have access, and they can only access those outpatient clinics that have previously enabled the internet scheduling possibility. Moreover, the primary health care physicians have to be recorded in the IBIS system as business partners. Further searching patient data is enabled exclusively by additionally assigning a patient to a primary health care physician, which can be done when making an outpatient admission into the IBIS system according to the scheduled appointment. While leaving to primary health care physicians the possibility to schedule appointments for any patient of theirs, this restricts the personal patient data that primary health care physicians can see, as they can see exclusively the data of those patients that are explicitly assigned to them.
