Sažetak
Corporate governance is a still recent research arena although of increasing interest for both scholars and practitioners over the last decades. The oldest references found within this field of research are dated between lately 70s and early 80s. By that time, Vance (1978) published a paper in the Journal of Business Research entitled “Corporate Governance: assessing corporate performance by boardroom attributes”. The initial focus was put on the possible existence of an optimal formula concerning the composition of the Board of Directors and their attributes. Nevertheless, he concluded that more precise measurements of board structure and effectiveness were still needed.
