Sažetak
As a city highly oriented towards tourism, Dubrovnik organizes diverse cultural events, which culminate with Dubrovnik Summer Festival as the largest and the best known event that takes place every year from July 10 to August 25, consisting of concerts, theatre plays, recitals, movie screenings, book presentations, folk dancing and modern dancing shows, etc. All these events take place in various public spaces, some of which have historical importance. This paper describes the acoustical evaluation of five of those spaces, namely, the Rector’s Palace, Revelin Fortress, Marin Držić Theatre, Slanica Concert Hall and Sloboda Movie Theatre. As the input for evaluation, the values of reverberation time RT60, early decay time EDT, binaural quality index BQI, gain G, clarity C80, initial time delay gap ITDG, speech transmission index STI and specific volume per person were obtained through measurements. Based on these values, acoustical properties of each space were evaluated according to several different criterions, yielding the guidelines for choosing the types of performances suitable for a given space. Recommendations were given for possible improvements of acoustic situation, where such improvements are necessary and/or possible.
