Sažetak
Sustainable development is a process of changes whose goal is to increase the possibility of satisfying the needs of both current and future generations while keeping the exploitation of resources, direction of investments, orientation of technological development and the institutional changes coordinated. The rise of environmental and social awareness gave momentum to the appearance of numerous global conventions, a signatory of which is also the Republic of Croatia. Because of the fact that environmental awareness alone will not bring forth any significant improvements to the existing situation, the aforementioned conventions impose upon their signatories a harmonized education of personnel in order to implement the principals of sustainable development. In the last twenty years there has been a conceptualization of environmental management as a science and skill of managing various degrees of business systems through the control of the environmental risks that threaten the survival of the ecosystem. This requires an interdisciplinary knowledge and continual education, and the management itself is focused on implementing, executing and developing the principals of sustainable development. The practice of executing the strategies of socially aware management as a science and skill of managing various degrees of business systems through the control of the environmental risks that threaten the survival of the ecosystem. This requires an interdisciplinary knowledge and continual education, and the management itself is focused on implementing, executing and developing the principals of sustainable development. The practice of executing the strategies of socially aware management as well as the activities focused on the education of employees working in the environmental management sectors in the big companies of Karlovac will be sought to be examined in this thesis.
