Sažetak
High quality vessels are expected to be very safe and have a high reliability during their useful life. It is often the case in practice that devices and machines in the process industry remain in service even after the expiration of their designed life. This is especially present in the high quality vessels which have a high production and installation cost. The main safety check for these vessels is performed according to rules and regulations for hydraulic (pressure) tests. Research on the high quality vessels leads to the conclusion that hydraulic tests are harmful, which was confirmed by a large number of cracks that appear after these hydraulic tests. This fact gives a basis for adjusting these tests according to the length of service. In several cases, this problem appeared toward the end of the useful life of the vessel. Hydraulic tests that are performed during manufacturing (inter-phase check) and during the trial operation did not cause crack appearance. The problem itself is beyond the interest of users and comes back to the designer and planner as well as those who control the application of rules and standards.
