Sažetak
The function and esthetics of removable prostheses are dependent on the correct orientation of the occlusal plane. Although the determination of the occlusal plane is crucial in clinical removable prosthodontics, none of the existin methods gives sufficient guidelines For chat purpose. The ain, of this
investigation was the hypothesis chat the angulation of the occlusal plane is
generally related to the skeletal base of the maxillae. Lateral cephalometric ra
diographs were made with the mandible in the rest position for all subjects by
using standard techniques. Young, dentate subjects were chosen consisting of
I O men and I O women with all teeth. In addition, 20 men and 20 women who
wore complete dentures were included in this investigation. Statistical analysis revealed (I) no parallelism between the occlusal and HIP plane with a mean angle of 4.63 degrees, SD 2.59 degrees, and range of 0-10 degrees, (2) no strong linear correlation (p>0.05) between the following variables:
a) the length of Cook's plane to Cook's occlusal plane angle,
6) the Po Na AWS angle to the occlusal Frankfort plane angle,
c) the length of the maxillary plane to the maxillary occlusal plane ankle.
