Sažetak
The Croatian Danube region experienced the intensification of the process of Romanization following the Roman conquests of the 1st century BC. On the Limes as well as in its hinterland we can trace many military bases as well as civic settlements that provide abundand traces of this process. The economic effects of the Roman conquest of the Drava, Sava and Danube interfluve were accompanied by cultural and religious innovations. Our knowledge of the intensity of this processes is still incomplete due to the lack of archaeological excavations. This paper will present several grave inventories (Vinkovci, Ilok and Osijek) and artefacts that can provide a better understanding of the process of Romanization and the nature of the relation between the indigenous population and the newcomers.
