Sažetak
The paper provides a theoretical basis for a new approach to regional developemnt in Croatia, based on the changing role of the state in general, which should have its implications in regional development policy also. The author argues why the approach to regional development and policy should be based on both a top-down as well as bottom-up approach. In this respect, the author comments on the Concept for Croatias regional development policy, as well as some other development strategies which have recently been elaborated in Croatia, and which have direct or indirect impact on regional development and policy.
