Sažetak
In autumn 1997 the Republic of Croatia started a compulsory motor vehicle approval scheme through ECE regulations for all vehicles imported into, or manufactured in, the country. The number of vehicles manufactured in Croatia in 1996 (less than 100) can be neglected in comparison to 110.000 vehicles imported in the same year. Of these, four times more vehicles were imported by private persons than by the registered importers or car dealers. This paper discusses the vehicle approval system design and consideres the expected effects of this process.
