Sažetak
Coordination polymers are infinite systems build up from metal ions and organic ligands. These materials have been studied in supramolecular chemistry and material chemistry due to their structural diversity and their applications as porous materials. Halogen derivatives of nicotinic acid, 2-chloronicotinic (2-ClnicH) and 5-bromonicotinic (5-BrnicH) acid, can be coordinated to metal ions as monodentate, bidentate or bridging ligands. We have prepared cobalt(II) and nickel(II) coordination polymers of 2-chloronicotinic and 5-bromonicotinic acid by the addition of the bridging ligands such as 4, 4’-bipyridine (4, 4’-bpy), 4, 4’-bipyridine-N, N’-dioxide or 1, 2-bis(4-pyridil)ethane. A crystal structure of 1D coordination polymer {; ; [Co(2-Clnic)2(4, 4’-bpy)(H2O)2]•4H2O}; ; n (1) was determined by single-crystal X-ray structural analysis. The cobalt(II) ion in 1 is octahedrally coordinated by two water molecules (O1 atom) in trans position, two carboxylate O atoms (O2 atom) from 2-Clnic ligands and by two N atoms (N2 and N3 atoms) from 4, 4’-bpy molecules. The 4, 4’-bpy molecules act as bridging ligands between the cobalt(II) ions, resulting with the formation of an infinite 1D polymeric chain of 1.
