Sažetak
Wastewater treatament plant has been described by Monod/decay kinetics and optimal periodic control investigated. The activated sludge process is inherently periodic. The methods of optimal periodic control have been applied in order to optimize it. Regular diurnal patterns of large magnitude fluctuations in wastewater treatment plant loadings suggest that the system should be designed as a periodic rather than as a steady state process. Substantial reductions in the daily amount of effluent substrate and in effluent variability of an activated sludge process can be achieved by intentional periodic control of sludge recycle flow and waste feed distribution.
