Sažetak
Early effect of Pd-Ag alloy on aerobic and microaerophillic flora from healthy oral cavity was studied. Normal microbial flora was sampled from saliva, den- ta1 plaque and gingival cervice from healthy individuals without any prostho- dontic appliances or periodontal diseases. Such samples were inoculated into li9uid media and were left in thermostat (3 ~ °C~ in aerobic condition. In some samples one or two sterile Pd-Ag alloy pieces were inoculated, while some samples were left without that pieces to be a controll group. Bujons were kept in a thermostat for 2~ and a 8 hrs and after that were examined for bacte- rial dehydrogenic activity to reveal the amount of active bacteria in a sample. Dehydrogenic activity was registered after incubation of O.I mL of 3- feniltetrazolinchlorid (TTC~ into samples. TCC changes a colour of a li9uid media because of bacterial dehydrogenic activity and therefore samples were analyzed in a spectroscop.Statistical analysis revealed significanly lower bac- terial activity (lower TTC distinction in samples with one or two Pd-Ag al- loy pieces than in control group (p<0.01~. These results indicate initial in- hibitory effect of Pd-Ag alloys on aerobic t7ora in the mouth. Presence of periodontal changes in a gingival cervice with Pd-Ag alloy crowns is probably due to anaerobic microorganisms.
