Sažetak
The aim of the study was to evaluate the precision of the horizon- tal and vertical linear dimensional measurements on orthopantomographic images. Material and methods: Different vertical and horizontal distances denoted by metal markers were measured on 25 dry mandibles. The orthopantomo- graphic images of the same mandibles were made and the measurements were repeated on the panoramic images. The results of both series of measure- ments were statistically analysed and compared. Results: Both horizontal and vertical linear measurements made only on one side of the mandible were similar to actual distances on the dry mandibles, with significant differences between the calculated and the listed magnifica- tion factors. Conclusions: The vertical and horizontal linear measurements of the various distances made on the orthopantomographic images exhibit reliable results, except for the horizontal distances which traverse the midline of the mandi- ble.
