Sažetak
The quality of pepper is very important to guarantee consumer satisfaction, and plays an important role on the market. The components of quality include appearance (colour, size, shape, freedom from defects and decay), firmness, taste, flavorr and nutritional value. The glasshouse studie was designed during 1999 to determine the influences on yield and quality (fruit size and weight, pericarp thickness, freedom from defects) of pepper Cecil F1 . The experiment was conducted on hortisol (pH in 1n KCl = 6.93 ; humus = 7.88 % ; AL-P2O5 = 120.1 mg and AL-K2O = 44.3 mg/100 g soil) fertilized with 600 kg/ha 8:26:26 and 200 kg/ha urea. Plants were transplanted on Mart 23rd on plant density 3 plant/m2. Besides usual irrigation, there were 9 fertigation with crystalline (5 ´ 60 kg/ha 13:40:13 and 4 ´ 30 kg/ha 15:5:30). The treatments of Ca-foliar application (0.5% solution) were continuous application during vegetation (May 25th July 25th) and control without application in 4 replicates. Yields, fruit number and fruit size (weight) were measured for each of 14 harvests (May 12th December 5th). Total yield after all 14 harvests was on control treatment 15, 72 kg/m2 and 16, 74 kg/m2 on foliar fertilized treatment. The marketable yield was equal to the total yield on fertilized treatment, but was only 6, 73 kg/m2 on control treatment. The same influence was determined for fruit number (132, 0/m2 and 117, 0/m2). There was difference between fruit weight average: 134, 4 g/fruit on control treatment and 126, 8 g/fruit on fertilized treatment. Foliar calcium spraying reduced fruit freedom from defects and increased marketable yield. The marketable yield on control treatment was 40, 2 % of marketable yield on fertilized treatment.
