Sažetak
Business intelligence involves the process of collecting data and information from internal and external business environment as well as converting them into business knowledge which provides the basis for making business decisions. It is a strategic management resource and a critical factor in the formulation of quality business strategies. In economies worldwide business intelligence is implemented as a separate institutionalized business function in a high percentage: in the European Union ranging from 73%-96% and 87% worldwide. Th is paper presents research results of application of business intelligence within companies that operate in Croatia. Th e research was conducted by online survey on a sample of 1000 largest Croatian companies by revenue in the period from October 2010 to April 2011. According to the results of survey, 19% Croatian companies has a separate business intelligence organizational departments, while 57% of companies occasionally apply business intelligence as a part of some other business activities.
