Sažetak
Sara Hughes' work precedes minimalism and pop art by moving towards traditional sources, such as fresco painting, mosaics, islamic mosque painting. On the other hand, it plays with the banality of postmodernism that annihilates transcendental order, enticing seriality and self referentiality which culminates with the emergence of new technologies. Her basic unit of visual expression - THE DOT - loses, in Benjamin's terms, its aura and simultaneously gestures towards a Baudrillarian concept of simulation, where signs produce new signs in an endless circulation creating a new space, a space of simulacrum.
