Sažetak
This paper analyzes the Croatian insurance market in the period between 2000 and 2010. In this period Croatian insurance market has undergone significant structural and legislative changes. Throughout the paper trends in shares of insurance companies in total assets of the financial sector are analyzed, as well as the trend in written premiums volume. Also, indicators of the insurance market are analyzed, such as insurance density and insurance penetration, the share of written premiums of life insurance in total premiums and detailed analysis of individual types of insurance in total premiums. Finally, there is the analysis of the structure, volume and profitability of the investment portfolios of insurance companies. The analysis of these parameters leads to conclusions about the historical development of the Croatian insurance market in the last decade, the impact of the crisis on market trends, and the current state of the market.
