Sažetak
Competition in the Telecoms market is growing rapidly. Therefore, network operators and service providers have to reform their marketing and service-delivering strategies in order to be competitive in the growing market. Convergence strategy of fixed-mobile services via standard-based IN platform may provide a step in the right direction. This paper deals with evolution steps of convergence services and their benefits for network operators and customers. It presents several possibilities of migration path evolution from the existing wireless network GSM to the Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS). The paper also provides a comparative analysis of the wireless technologies involved in this evolution. Some aspects of of the specific situation in countries in transition are also discussed.
