Sažetak
Spiral computed tomographic angiography (SCTA) is a minimally invasive vascular imaging method with scanning during continuous intravenous contrast medium administration. The dual-phase study consists of a series of CT scans through the kidney during the arterial phase, and a series of scans during the venous phase, in which we analyse the renal vein and the inferior v.cava, as also eventually enlarged lymph nodes. We are presenting our experiences in the dual phase technique or double-pass CT. In our deprtment CTA is performed on a single slice CT scanner (HiSpeed LXi, GE). We use a power injector Angiomat 3000/6000 for administration of non-ionic contrast material in the uniphasic mode. Contrast administration protocols for performing SCTA were formulated with careful selection of the concentration of contrast medium, total dose and contrast flow rate, and the scan delay period. Twenty patients were evaluated durin a one year period - 8 with ultrasound verified malignant tumours, 5 with benign changes, and 7 with hypertension. In the group of patients with malignant tumours we found renal vein dilatation with inhomogenous filling of inf.v.cava due to of tumour spread in 2 patients. In 2 patients of the hypertension group we found renal arterial stenosis. in the group with benign changes we found angiomiolypoma in two cases and in benign cysts 5 cases. Careful selection of the scanning parameters and contrast administration protocols are essential for good vascular imaging with SCTA in renal pathology
