Sažetak
Aim: To examine the influence of Er:YAG laser on bond strength of guttapercha/AH Plus and Resilon/RealSeal SE root canal fillings to radicular dentin. Methodology: Forty extracted human maxillary anterior teeth with straight roots, instrumented with rotating ProTaper instruments, were used. In half specimens, root canals were rinsed for 1 min with 2 ml of 17% EDTA (group 1 and 2). For other half of specimens, Er:YAG laser, with 14-mm long 400 micron diameter tapered tip, was used for 40 s with 2 ml of 17% EDTA (group 3 and 4). The root canals were obturated with either guttapercha/AH Plus (group 1 and 3) or Resilon/RealSeal SE (group 2 and 4). A push-out test was performed using a universal testing machine and failure modes were determined. Results: There was no statistically significant difference in bond strength between the groups without laser irradiation and with laser irradiation, in which guttapercha/AH Plus (9.59±4.68 MPa and 10.57±7.06 MPa) or Resilon/RealSeal SE (3.03±4.5 MPa and 1.76±1.49 MPa) were used respectively (p>0.05). In both guttapercha/AH Plus groups, higher bond strengths to radicular dentin were obtained in comparison to Resilon/RealSeal SE groups (p<0.05). The failure mode for all of the experimental groups were mainly adhesive and mixed. Conclusions: Er:YAG laser did not influence the bond strength of guttapercha/AH Plus and Resilon/RealSeal SE to radicular dentin. Guttapercha/AH Plus showed higher bond strength in comparison to Resilon/RealSeal SE.
