Sažetak
Headache is one of the most common forms of chronic pain. Migraine affects 18% of woman and 6% of man (Steward WF et al, 1994). Since 1993 a number of drugs in the "triptan family" have been approved for the acute treatment of migraine.
Other treatment of migraine have focused on the prophylaxis rather than acute symptomatic improvement. Drugs currentlys used for migraine prophylaxisa include tryciclic antidepressants, brta blockers, alpha-2 adrenergic blockers, calcium chanel blockers, some antiepileptics, serlective serotonin inhibitors and nonsteroidal anti-inflamatory agents. furthermore one third of population receiving prophylaxis fail to respond adequately and drugs with a new mechanism of action are needed (Brin MF, 2000).
