Sažetak
Trastuzumab is a recombinant, humanized monoclonal antibody that selectively targets HER-2 (ErbB2) receptor of the epidermal growt factor (EGFR). Serious side effect of trastuzumab therapy is cardiac dysfunction, which can be emphasized in patients with preexist cardio-vascular disease, previous antracycline administration, irradiation of the thorax and advanced age.Results our study which included 230 patients with early stage breast cancer who were treated with trastuzumab :there was no greater occurrence of cardiac dysfunction in older patients treated with trastuzumab in comparison to younger patients. The only difference appeared in cardiac dysfunction recovery period which was significantly longer with older patients.
