Sažetak
This text is about discourse stylistics and the position of literary discourse according to the other styles of Standard Croatian language.Words such as discourse, literature have been analyzed as well as specific characteristics of literary discourse in the discourse field. Literary discourse (by now mentioned as a literary artistic style/fictional style) is found in the style clasification at the special position. According to its nature it resists such divison. Other discourse types are determined by functionality and pragmatism. For example administrative discourse type is determined by its function in the official communication (office work, political subdiscourse).Literary artistic discourse is not subjected to the realities.The whole discourse field is a material that literature can subject to its aesthetic perception and transformation. It also makes literary works from natural materials. Literary artistic discourse is defined by its aesthetic nature that brings it to the important characteristics of literary code and literariness.We can't observe it differently and outside literature. Other are used by man because of the need for communication and living in the realities( for example to get a job, to find scientific truth, to give a message, »to chat» with friends, to talk at the meeting).Literary artistic style comes from the specific human need for aesthetic communication and its reception. This text points out the neglecting of non-literary discourse in learning and improving reading by not questioning pupil's need for introduction to the communication with artistic text.It is also pointed out the complexity of litarary discourse at the lexical, semantic and stylisic level that can make reading more difficult because it is based on reading with understanding. This non-litarary discourse is man's reality not his need. A number of elementary books has been analyzed: from Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy as well as from the USA and the relation between literary and non-literary discourse has also been analyzed. Naturally, non-literary discourse makes easier the learning of reading and in that way it helps the communication with litarary discourse which is very specific in the elementary reading. Surely the books for learning and improving reading should establish non-literary discourse and the present positon of literary discourse is not justified.
