Sažetak
Chronic, recurrent headaches are common in school-age children and are also the most common manifestation of pain in children. Very often it causes irrational fear of serious illness in parents and the primary care physicians, which is the reason of frequent referral of children to the hospital. It is also the cause why headache is the most common diagnosis in medicine, and one of the most common reasons for asking medical help in the pediatric population and a common cause of absence from school. Of all the headaches of school age, about 28% are migraine type headaches. Approach to diagnosis and treatment of headache in children is multidisciplinary. The aim of treatment is to classify the type of headache, explain it’s natural course to parents and children, try to make them accept the fact that it may be chronic with a longer or shorter periods without symptoms, and teach them how to deal with it, minimizing as much as possible relapses of pain, thus improving the quality of life of the child and family. In the treatment of migraine type headaches, in addition to traditional pharmacotherapy, increasingly important become role of psychologists, biofeedback training and relaxing, with a change in lifestyle.
