Sažetak
The symbolism of the breast is very closely related to the physical, energetic, and spiritual reality of experiencing the body, whereas corporality itself is perceived in relation to a particular ideality as an existential value. Relying on the common findings of a wide range of fields - biomedical and human science, theology, philosophy, and the ans - we will try to explain on the basis of symbolism and ritual (e.g., relics from The depths of our phylogenefic development) the energetic substratum of primordial existential aeshteticism (voluptates corpori - pleasure of the body; voluptates animi - pleasure of the soul).
In the psycho-physiological and psychodynamic mechanisms of coping with illness, the discovery of the aesthetic dimension of existence appears as the archetype of renewal in the transcendental experience of death and birth, confession and prayer, pain and pleasure -and can have a supportive prophylactic and therapeutic function. Based on this idea a certain hypothesis has been developed: in therapeutic communication that is highly saturated by the aesthetic dimension, there are new possibilities in an act of symbolization for the discovery and support of the "libidinzed" Eros to Thanatos - that is, new possibilities for the exploration of new ways to develop the potential of life.
Within this approach, some aspects and findings of clinical studies on the application of complementary supportive therapies in the problematic area of breast cancer will be presented.
