Sažetak
The aim of this paper is to present results of a study carried out in Croatia upper primary classes and elaborate on them, focusing on the English foreign language (EFL) learners’ motivation and attitudes when learning English. Firstly, there is a theoretical part presenting recent literature about our study area, that is recent research in second language acquisition (SLA) focusing on attitudes and motivation of young learners. This is followed by a detailed presentation of the study. The focal points of this study were attitudes and motivation of Croatian upper primary EFL learners, and their changing developments over four years. There were four groups in the study, drawn from two metropolitan schools and one town school. The research results are presented in charts and tables, they are then analyzed and compared with the results of previous studies. Our conclusions are consistent with the conclusions of former studies.
