Sažetak
Taking into account the theory of Sander K. Gilman I conclude that the distinction between aesthetic and reconstructive surgery is primarily ideological, often rooted in racist, sexist and xenophobic worldviews. These views are confronted with contemporary popular discourses of beauty influenced by historical, political and metaphysical changes in understanding of physical beauty and of the body.
