Sažetak
There is a profound and rich array of research focused on technology adoption by organizations and individuals. The majority of the studies have taken Diffusion of Innovation Theory (DIT) developed by Everett Rogers as the starting point in conducting researches and deriving conclusions out of the defined methodology. Bearing in mind the process of diffusion of innovations authors were keen to analyse the IT adoption in the Croatian hospitality sector – its organizational and environmental context. By IT adoption, authors primarily focus on introduction of online booking systems. The paper is the result of the research efforts that started with an overview of the online booking systems in 2008 and hence, the same in 2013. An overview of online booking systems usage and changes in the reference period (5 years) in Croatian hospitality is provided. The population includes all of the hospitality companies in Croatia. Results are broken down by main developed tourism counties. Synthesized online booking systems classifications are also presented. In our sector analyses, a high adoption rate of online booking systems in 2013 is expected ; however, the point is that the high adoption rate should be investigated further to find the reality behind the high rate.
