Sažetak
The middle and late Eocene sediments from the Istra more-3, Istra more-4 and Istra more-5 wells consist of hemipelagic deposits of marls and clayey marls with exeptionally well preserved planktonic foraminifera. The succession studied was deposited on the eastern edge of the Venetian Basin in a slope to basinal environment. Biostratigraphic analyses were made on drill cuttings and five cored intervals. Standard planktonic foraminiferal zones from E8 to E16 were identified (BERGGREN&PEARSON, 2005). Due to the possible reworking of drill cuttings, a zonal scheme which emphasizes highest occurrences (HO) of the index taxa has been used. Besides the zonal markers, the evolutionary lineage of the Turborotalia cerroazulensis group, as well as the species succession of the genus Globigerinatheka, were useful for biostratigraphic analyses.
