Sažetak
The Greek Travel Book from the Animist View of the World up to Critical Prosa This article is a review and historic literary analysis of the Greek travel book prior to Hellenism. Most of the discussed ones are well known books which are now reconsidered so far that they are travel books. Many Myths are travel books and that reveals to us that the travel book can be ranged among the most ancient genres. The Odyssey is also a uncommon travel books because it does not describe the hero who sets sails for a travel but his come back home. His travel is the sailing of a mythic hero across a world populated by divinities. Herodot’s travel books are linked to the Myth and are drifting towards the historiography and Greek prosa. His travel book is strongly anegdotic. The Anabasis by Xenophon is also a travel book and is the description of the way back home of this officer who has acquited the Persian service and is also a defending script. His is a biography of the Persian Emperor Kyros but from time to time he describes the travels of his biographee. It may not be a case that Alexander has conquered exactly the countries which prior to him were described in travel books. The Greek travel book written by Greeks serving the Persian emperors and others, inspired by some traders encompassed the world from Thule down to Taprobana and merged little by little with geographics.
