Sažetak
The area of Northern Croatia is an integral part of the distribution of the Central European legacy of the Late La Tène culture, of course with certain idiosyncracies resulting from the settlement of the Celtic communities in the southern boundary of the Celtic world and their symbiosis with the diffrerent groups of autochthonous population. Today is understanding of the development of the Late La Tène culture in Northern Croatia mostly based on the sites and finds from the area of the Eastern Slavonia where Scordisci developed a complex settlement network with fortified settlements as political and economical centres of their respective areas (Dirov Brijeg in Vinkovci, Gradina in Privlaka, Gradina in Orolik, Damića Gradina in Stari Mikanovci, Donji Grad in Osijek, Gradac in Sarvaš, Dalj, Vukovar, Sotin). Very numerous are also lowland settlements, presumably with a predominantly agricultural character. It’s interesting that contemporous burials presently are almost unknown (Sotin), apart from the information about a chance finds of weaponry which in all probability comes from a destroyed cremated graves (Vinkovci, Otok) For a more comprehensive understanding of the site and collected finds it is necessary to undertake trial excavation on a greater surface that would provide the basis for an explanation of these exceptional and hitherto undocumented finds in the territory of the Scordisci in southern Pannonia.
