Sažetak
The current-steering architecture of the D/A converter has been examined, in order to give a complete system level analysis, and to create a general behavioural model of the system. The model created reveals the link between the design parameters and final dynamic performance, indicated in terms of spurious free dynamic range. A complete mismatch analysis has been performed, providing in that way all the information needed to extrapolate a high yield circuit. A segmented, 10-bit, 100 MSample/s, current steering D/A converter has been implemented at 1.2 V supply, with 1 mA full scale current in UMC 90-nm CMOS technology. A transimpedance amplifier is used at the output to ensure a high output swing. Circuit’s layout is set in 0.034 mm 2 area. The circuit shows 10-bit efficiency up to 25 MHz input frequency, and correspondence with the models created.
