Sažetak
In spite of proclaimed Death of the Play/Text/Word in the theater, domination of theatre directors' visions, and theoretical definition of that situation as postdramatic theatre, the theatre reacted by a new trend which started in Great Britain called verbatim or documentary drama. These plays literary talk about real events, returning not just the dignity of the Word in the Theatre but also the political function of theatre. The chosen events are relevant for today’s society ; hate crimes (Moses Kauffman Laramie Project), racial and religious conflicts (Fires in the Mirror Anne Deavere Smith, Richard Norton-Taylor The Color of Justice and Bloody Sunday, Alan Rickman and Katharine Viner My Name Is Rachel Corrie), or terrorism (Guantanamao Victoria Brittain and Gillian Slovo, Robin Soans Talking to Terrorists). As a reaction to a recent and very artificial blood and sperm trend in Anglo-American drama, which depicted people form some dark surreal world, we have now real people on the stage, from common people to famous politicians who shaped the world (David Hare Stuff Happens, Michael Fryn: Democracy, Peter Morgan Frost/Nixon).
